 A friend at work asked me to make a cake for his wife's birthday. She is a labor and delivery nurse. I think it turned out very nice.

Hurray for the Boy Scouts!

I have been fighting a loosing battle this year. The weeds in my yard are OUT of control.
I have been pulling weeds all summer long and they have overrun almost my entire back yard.
Today the Scouts came over for some "service" hours and clean out all the window wells, laid down weed blocker and the white rocks we've had for about 2 years.
I never clean out the wells because spiders live down there.
So the window wells are clean- check!
And there were about 5 other scouts without a job so the leaders got them pulling dandelions, crabgrass and the other weeds that are running everywhere.
They were here for about an hour and got 2 black garbage bags full of weeds.
I was so happy, I made them chocolate chip cookies and had cold milk as a thank you.
The leaders said that if they need more service hours they may be back.
My yard looks so much better!

The most WONDERFUL Day!

  
Saturday I had the most WONDERFUL DAY!
Saturday was a sister's day! I met Kar, Sarah, Chris and Ais downtown for lunch at Eva. It serves Mediterranean food. I had a sweet potato hash. Very tasty. Then we went to see WICKED.
It was perfect. The above is from the Tony Awards 5 years ago when WICKED debuted on Broadway.
The only dark spot is that Nell was not there to enjoy it also. The show was so great. It totally fulfilled my imagination when I listened to it.
After the great performance I got to spend some time with Jay, Sarah, Dean and Vera. Chris and Ais stopped by and Chris "operated" on my foot. A week or so ago I stepped on some briers. Some were stuck and a couple got infected. I took care of one, but the other one was on the far side of the heel and I could get to it. I tried to fix it but I think I made it worse and it got infected. But Chris got the thorn and the yuck out. "THAT'S REAL LOVE". My foot feels so much better.
It was a wonderful day!

Deer Valley date night...

Kyle and I had tickets to the Deer Valley music festival on Friday night. Utah Symphony played many great songs. The finale was the 1812 Overture...  with LIVE cannons! We were in the mountains and I got cold. I didn't want to wrap up in a blanket because it felt so good to be cold.

Fruits of my labor...

Yesterday I had 2 cherry tomatoes! Sooooo guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuooooooooood!

I have about 10 tomatoes getting bigger and about 1millon cherry tomatoes getting rip and about 10 cucumber flowers. So excited for my garden produce!

What I've been working on....

I have a friend at work that just got hired as an EMT. He loves helping people and the gorier the better! But because his new job will be 90 hrs a week he has decided to quite.
So I was able to make his going away party cake.
I had a lot of fun making it. Gold Cross is the company that hired him.




I also made about 70 cup cakes flavors red velvet with cream cheese frosting and yellow with chocolate fudge frosting.... SOOOOOOOO good.
My friend really liked it. And I will miss him tons.

So I know some people have been waiting for pix from Amsterdam. I finally found my cable usb thingie for the camera... here ya go!

In the airport is a huge turbo-jet engine... Kyle really liked it..

Our room, I was standing IN the window. That closet behind Kyle is the bathroom.... were you pull the shower curtain closed and the shower includes the toilet.... hmmmm space saver.

Our hotel was at the end of the "5th Ave." type road. Our hotel entrance is where the black flag is. We were on the 5th floor with the tiniest elevator I've ever been on but the max occupy is 8 people.
Beautiful museum that was closed for renovations. Can't wait to go back and see what's in there!
This arch was just in front of the museum above.... One of the bricks said 1614!
View out our window if you hang out and look right..... We went looking for the church but got lost.... I will find it!

It was a great and wonderful trip. Next time I go to Amsterdam I really want to stay for longer than 20 hrs.

My New FAVORITE thing....

Introducing the STROOPWAFEL! Holy smokes it is soooo good!




It's a little wafel toasted perfect, cut in half and this yummy syrup, spread, thing that kinda tasted like the cinnamon monkey bread caramel, is spread in the middle and then sandwiched together.
It's nice and toasty warm. Then it cools down and it gets better!
I don't know how I can ever leave my stroopwafels!

Happy NEW YEAR!

Well it's that time to start thinking what you have and grateful for and some things that you would like to change in your life.
Instead of making a HUGE list and feeling terrible next Dec. 31st when I haven't completed a marathon or written a best selling novel... I am going to make only 2 resolutions that will be better for me.
1. Eat my vegetables. I have to eat at least 1 serving of veggies every day.
2. Read /reread 60 books. Last year I read/reread about 50 books. There are some great classics out there that I love to re-read.
